The oven cleaner will help loosen the oil glazing on the cylinder walls. Then, you can use a Scotch-Brite pad to hone the cylinder walls in a crisscross pattern. Wear rubber gloves when you use oven cleaner and flush the cylinder afterwards with soapy water.
Web24 Dec 2024 · Just scuffing cylinder walls with Scotch Brite may actually have some moderate success if the existing cylinder walls were left with sharp/broken metal from a lousy hone job. If the cylinders were honed properly, cleaning with white, lint free rags and lacquer thinner is my process until the rag cones out absolutely clean.
